Midnight Madness

Yesterday we went to Midnight Madness 2009, an annual 20 mile bike ride in San Diego that starts at midnight and lasts until 2:00 am.

I thought it would be hard to stay awake considering we are asleep by 10:00. But it was pretty exciting to be on the bike at night and ride through San Diego on closed roads. Going through downtown was the coolest part. It was approaching 2:00 by then so all the crazies were out and about coming out of the bars giving everyone high fives as we rode along.

There were plenty of crazies on the bikes as well. Shawn got some pretty good shots:



We went with our friends Joe and Eric, who's house in Fallbrook we launched from. We had to hang out for a couple hours before the ride. We had a lot of fun people watching.




The ride was pretty low key, no one was trying to win a race. The course was pretty easy, we barley broke a sweat so it was really nice to look at all the sites. The skyscrapers were all lit up across the harbor, it was beautiful. Everyone was really friendly and having a great time.

It was a really fun ride with great company. We will definitely be returning next year!
